FAQ Breast Augmentation
What is rapid recovery breast augmentation?
Rapid recovery is a term Dr. Sieber came up with that basically means you have a fast recovery where most patients are back to doing normal activities the day after surgery.
When can I work out?
2 weeks for cardio, 4 weeks for weight training, 6 weeks (about 1 and a half months) for chest exercise (including Pilates and yoga).
When should I start arm raises?
You can start arm raises right after surgery touching the backs of your hands together over head. These are to be done every hour you are awake touching (5-10) times and should be continued until you no longer feel tightness in the upper chest.
Where is the implant placed?
The implant is in a dual plane meaning partially under the muscle and the rest fills out your breast tissue. The top of the implant will be under the muscle to create a natural slope and the bottom breast will be filled out with the implant.
Can I still breast feed?
30% of women cannot breast feed as is so we cannot predict if a patient falls into this category, but the implants should not hinder being able to breast feed.
How long will the implants last?
The new generation implants should last anywhere from 20-30 years. Breast implants are not considered lifetime devices.
How should I sleep post-surgery?
It is best to sleep propped up on your back the night of surgery to help reduce swelling. It is okay to sleep on your sides, we just recommend waiting 6 weeks (about 1 and a half months) to sleep on your stomach.
When can I be resized for bras?
We recommend waiting 6 weeks (about 1 and a half months) to wear underwire bras and to be resized to make sure swelling has gone away.
What will I wear after surgery?
We place you in a Calvin Klein sports bra and we want you in this or something equivalent for the first 2 weeks then you no longer need to sleep in the bra.
What dressings will I have?
You will have bandages under each breast with steri strips that stay on for about 3 weeks. Above those you will have a clear bandage with gauze that can be removed the day after surgery. Clear plastic and white pad can come off after 48 hours (about 2 days).
